Thanksgiving + Early Christmas

What a fun week we just had! On Tuesday morning, my parents drove in from Montana (after leaving work midday Monday and driving that afternoon and evening), and spent the day with us. Grandma came to see Elijah's preschool, and we hung out and played. Both grandparents pushed the kids in the swings and played with them in the house.

Wednesday was spent getting ready for Thanksgiving, baking pies and making jello salad and such. Thursday morning, Uncle Paul and Aunt Megan rolled in, and then the partying really began! We had a great lunch of cheese, crackers, oysters, and fruit. Then the kids opened most of their presents. Uncle Paul and Kirsa had a great time with a game of peek-a-boo! Then the women cooked + washed endless dishes and the boys watched football while the kids napped/rested.

The silly turkey got done at 2pm (I was shooting for 4-5pm, but I have NO LUCK with big cuts of meat getting done, ever, when I want them to!) but we just popped it in the fridge, then reheated it before carving when Chris got home around 4:30. The dinner was absolutely delicious - turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberries, green bean casserole, lefse, strawberry jello... and of course, pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert! Even Kirsa got bites of almost everything.

After dinner, Elijah and Kirsa opened their final awesome Christmas gifts, we all walked outside to look at the Christmas lights Chris had hung on the house, then the kiddos went to bed. The adults opened all our awesome presents, and then... everyone left. My parents went back to Paul and Megan's and will spend the last day of their vacation there before heading home to MT.

It was such a wonderful day! I am so grateful to my dad and Paul for playing with the kids, Chris for working hard to get home in time for dinner, and most of all, to my mom for making pretty much the entire dinner and Megan for washing nearly every dish! It was hectic but so fun to do Thanksgiving + Early Christmas all together this year!!

So Tired!!
