We had a very happy Halloween this year! Chris and Elijah carved the pumpkin just before we left for Atlanta. Yesterday, Elijah waited impatiently for Daddy to race home from work and get the trick-or-treating started.
It was pretty slow-going, with about three million reminders to Elijah to "Say Trick-or-Treat" and "Say thank you - LOOK at them when you say it - louder, they can't hear you - Elijah! say thank you! every time!" but eventually he got the hang of it. I think it threw him off when people would answer the door and start asking him questions about how he was doing and what his costume was.
Each and every house was an adventure for him. He commented on the driveways, cars, doorbells, halloween decor, dogs that came to the door... everything! We probably should have just let him go to three houses over thirty minutes and call it a night! (It might have been slow partly because Elijah was wearing his snow boots. Earlier in the day, he came in from outside and cheerfully informed me - I played in the puddle! And he had, and his shoes were dripping. And he has no other shoes, because who is going to buy 2 pairs of shoes for a kid that outgrows them every 6 months?)
Kirsa was not a fan of trick-or-treating. I think she was tired, maybe still catching up from the vacation. It's funny to see the differences in your own kids. At that same age, Elijah could have stayed out and cheerful all night long, but she was not having it.
So we made our way back home, tossed kiddos into bed, and Chris spent the next hour handing out candy. I was glad he was the one answering the door, because he was cheerful and funny with all the kids.
I probably just would have been hissing Shhh! There's a baby sleeping! every time they talked. One little girl also informed Chris, who was wearing his dress shirt from work and his glasses, "You look smart!" Too cute. We love our neighborhood.
So that's it. Happy Halloween!

Seems weird, I did leave a comment yesterday but I guess it went into cyber space. I love the costumes and all the pictures! I can't remember what amazing things I said, but oh well. Love, Mom
