Great Grandma Visits

Last week, my grandma - Elijah and Kirsa's Great Grandma Polly - came to visit for several days. We had a wonderful time together, and are so grateful that she takes the time out of her life and service to her church to spend a week with us every fall.

The first night, we went out to dinner at our local (really local - it's about 3 blocks away) Greek restaurant. It is an amazing little family-owned restaurant that makes you feel a bit like you're in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The server is SO friendly and wonderful every time we go there, we just love it! And the food is awesome too.

While she was here, she helped me make plum jam with the plums on the tree in our backyard. Actually, helped isn't really the right word - she pretty much did it all herself! I wasn't much help at all, I don't think. But now I have lots of plum jam, a recipe, and have watched it done - so next time, hopefully I can make freezer jam myself. I also made pumpkin bread, banana bread, cherry pie, maple oat scones, and a zillion other meals, desserts, and fun foods while she was helping with the jam and the kiddos.

She and Elijah did lots of playing inside and outside, including his new puzzle that he just loves. She also "Guest Taught" my homeschool Creation Corner preschool one day. It was amazing to watch her with Elijah - she was so patient and so good with him. He is captivated by everything she has to say and teach him. They were best buddies for the week!

And of course, Kirsa enjoyed having Great Grandma around to play, to meet someone new, to cuddle and hold her and wave toys in front of her!

She also spent a day in Boulder with Paul and Megan, and I'll post those pictures at some point when they send them. We had a big dinner with all of us one evening too, and played Wii Party - and my grandma, who was playing it for the first time, proceeded to win the game and beat ALL the rest of us.

So, as you can imagine, it was a wonderful visit, and we're so glad she came!!

PS - don't you just love Kirsa's amazingly beautiful little dress in these pics? Many thanks to my BFF Keeley for the two most BEAUTIFUL baby girl dresses I have ever seen in my life. As I've mentioned before, I have a serious thing for Little Girls + Red & White. Will post pics of the other cute dress soon too!
