Montana * August 2011 * 1 week

So - as I said in the last post - on Monday, August 8, we hopped in the car early in the morning, picked Chris up from work at 7:00 sharp after his night shift, and drove to Montana. The kids were pretty good travelers - it hadn't been that long since our Minnesota trip - and Chris got a little sleep in the car while I drove about 9 of the 12 driving hours.

While in Montana, we had lots of activities every day. My mom was helping out at the elementary school where she works with some kindergarteners who were coming in early for a few "practice" days of kindergarten due to various special needs and issues, and Elijah "attended" these practice days with the 5-year-olds. He absolutely loved it, of course, and he was so precious and funny with all those bigger kids. He played on the playground at recess, marched around the room in a line for the MorningTime March, and even answered a few questions.

We also got together with my BFF Keeley, her darling son Luther, and her mom Tami at the Carousel while we were in town. Elijah stated after leaving that he wanted to "spend the whole day at the carousel and ride it 80 times." Chris asked if he would sleep there too, and he said, "No. There are no beds at the carousel." Keeley and Tami also gave Kirsa the most darling clothes ever, and I can't wait to take pictures of her wearing them to show you!

Wednesday night, the boys went to a baseball game (the Brewers), and forgot the camera. Apparently Elijah watched all of 2 seconds of the game and spent most of the time running up and down the bleachers. See previous post about being three and a half.

Thursday night, we had a "campfire" in the yard and roasted marshmallows. True to tradition, the graham crackers were a bit rancid and there wasn't much chocolate, but we did discover that a marshmallow on a Twix bar is actually nearly as delicious as a traditional s'more! Elijah didn't seem to notice anyway, he was too excited to be up late at night with the fire and the moon.

We ate lots of delicious food - including lamb kabobs, lemon meringue pie, and this pasta salad I made up, took many cute pictures, and hung out around the house. Chris and Elijah drove the tractor and helped with some yard work. It was an absolutely wonderful time and we were sad to leave on Saturday, but glad to know that my parents plan to visit us for Thanksgiving this year!

On the way home, we decided to take a little adventure... post coming soon!
